A Little Mess

I've made a little mess because of the Christmas preparations. Traditionally, in all the homes in Romania, we have a big, big cleaning of the household before Christmas (and another big, big one before Easter). I don't have to clean too much because I have a weekly cleaning routine. Still, it's the time to rotate some furnishings and to bring up new decorations - and that's why everything is upside down.

Like I already said, the kitchen gets a red-and-white makeover. I'm working on the shelf display.

I need more storage in my happy entryway, hence the new shoe storage units that need fixing on the wall.

And my cats are rearranging the rug every day for a deconstructionism manifesto.

    1. Cristina is right....your messy spots look cute, and sort of stylish.
That is awesome you live in Romania. I always wondered where you lived. We lived in Hawaii for awhile and the Japanese have their annual cleaning before New Years. Maybe I should adopt all the different cultures deep cleaning times. lol

    2. Well, I like the way the mess looks, too! I think it's because that I see new potential in the bare spaces and I get that liberating feeling that I can do anything (on the shelves...)
And Katie, I think I should adopt all the cleaning times from all the other cultures, as well, ha ha ha :))))

  2. Haha, Meeha, this is NOT a mess! This is simply a creative surrounding. I'll send you some of my kids over to make a proper mess, if you like ;)

    1. Ana, send the kids over a.s.a.p.!! My best friend from childhood has 2 girls and she always tells me that once I have cats, I am prepared to live with children without killing myself :))))

PS: in the entryway that is not wallpaper, I painted it myself in a retro-pop pattern of my own design. I LOVE all retro design and colors and you can see how I made it here:

    1. My cats think that the rugs were especially invented for them, to have something to twist and ruin every day :))

  7. Enjoy making new decorations! :) I sometimes get ideas for new thing to make when I make a mess, for ex. drag out fabrics from the closet in a big bunch. I remember your entry, it looks fantastic. :)

  12. i need to have a big big cleaning too because i don't have enough space to decorate otherwise. it feels good though too, placing all those decorations on top of a mess would not feel quite as merry : )
